Lim Pei Ern (MALAYSIA)
LIM PEI ERN grew up in Sabah, Malaysia. She completed Advanced II in RAD Ballet, and represented her state in SUKMA 2006 in Rhythmic Gymnastics. She graduated from LASALLE College of the Arts with First Class Honour (BA) in Dance. Since 2012, she danced for international choreographers such as Wu Yi San (Hong Kong), Akiko Kitamura (Japan), Marie Gabrielle Rotie (United Kingdom), Inma Marin (Spain), and Singapore choreographers Melissa Quek, Susan Yeung and Albert Tiong. In 2015, she performed for John Mead Dance Company and taken in as an apprentice for 2nd Company with T.H.E Dance Company Singapore. In Malaysia, Pei Ern worked with DPAC Dance Company since 2015. In 2017, she works independently. Her recent performance ‘Puppets’ was with Pauline Rosolen (German) in Paris Theater de Ville and Japan artist, Un Yamada for ‘People Without Season’. Her new work, You/Me was selected for M1 Contact Festival in Singapore and produced her work ‘Nyanyian Bumi’ in collaboration with Japanese and Indonesian artists.
'Singularity' focuses on the desires of human beings. It's a solo piece perform by, Pei Ern. It started when her collaborator, Atsushi Heki asked Pei Ern what are the three items she would bring with her to Space. She answered: Water, Smart Phone and Sarong. Again, this is a simple dance work because Desires derived from our Humanity and Life. And this is not Future's story, but out story. So, what is your Happiness?
